Please join us this Friday, 24th May in the Harbour Room at Royal Melbourne Yacht Squadron for inspiration from some of Australia’s most prominent sailors, Wendy Tuck and Alice Parker, speaking at the AWKR Women’s Sailing Panel, chaired by Dee Mason.
Wendy Tuck was the first woman to woman to win an around the world race and with 16 Sydney to Hobart’s under her belt, including two handed on a Beneteau 34.7 and winning the Jane Tate Memorial Trophy twice as the first female skipper to cross the line.
Only getting into sailing in her 20’s, Wendy has not stopped since and has countless stories and adventures to share.
Alice Parker (nee Tarnawski) grew up sailing and has competed on the international women’s match racing circuit for a number of years, as well as sailing Etchells, MC38’s and Farr 40’s before developing her offshore skills and taking to navigation.
Now one of Australia’s most in demand navigators, Alice has had amazing success including guiding URM (Reichel Pugh 72) to 2nd overall and 3rd in line honours in the 2023 Rolex Sydney to Hobart. She has also navigated TP52’s Ichi Ban, Celestial and Matador to multiple wins across the country.
This will be a fun and interactive night, so don’t miss out. Dinner will be available at the club from 6pm, with the panel session starting in the Harbour Room at 7pm. The Titanics will be playing after for those who would like to kick on.
This is a free event and is open to everyone. We really hope to see you there!
