Hello AWKR sailors

This year's planned 30th anniversary of the Australian Womens Keelboat Regatta (AWKR) may have been postponed again but that won't stop us catching up for a Zoom chat at 7pm AEST on Saturday June 12th to catch up and hear what is planned for the postponed event in a few months time. Kristen (AWKR Chair) and Monica (our Club Captain) will be hosting the event.

To access the zoom meeting please use the below link

.We also hope to get a few sailors from Sail Online join us again as they did last year.

We can't race physically so Sail Online (SOL) is kindly hosting what would normally be our longer race during the AWKR. You won't need to be a computer gamer for this one and it won't cost you a cent because SOL is free. We will be sailing a brand new First27 which would be a very nice boat for the AWKR in real life. SOL uses real winds that change throughout the race as the winds change on the bay. If you get it right you could get around the course with just a couple of tacks and one or two gybes. So set up your free account at Sail Online and join us for a virtual 29.9th AWKR.

2021 Australian Women’s Keelboat Regatta to be Postponed.

Due to the extension of the current lockdown in Melbourne the 30th Australian Women’s Keelboat Regatta (AWKR), due to be held from 12-14 June, will be postponed.

It is with great regret that we make this announcement, especially after the cancelation of last year’s event, but we will be rescheduling this event for another weekend this year.

We are currently in discussions to confirm a suitable weekend to host this year’s regatta and look forward to announcing a date shortly where we can safely welcome competitors from all over the country – and enjoy a regatta in a warmer month where we can enjoy the festivities both on and off the water.

During lockdown RMYS is currently on minimum staff, so if you could please be patient with any administration or entry queries until after the 15 June this would be greatly appreciated. If you require a refund please email Colin Burgess at awkr@rmys.com.au

If you would like to get in touch with us sooner, please message us through the AWKR Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/AustralianWomensKeelboatRegatta/

Thank you so much for your understanding and we look forward to sharing the new dates for this year’s rescheduled regatta with you shortly.
